Take it Easy!

Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey of The Eagles recorded a song by this name that was released in 1972. In the song there is a line that says “Don’t let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy.” Another part of the song says “Lighten up while you still can.”

Working hard is an attribute highly admired in our country, certainly not a bad thing. Unfortunately when we are out of balance, it is easy to get so focused on getting things done we forget about the people around us. Sometimes we just need to “Take it easy” or as some folks say “Take time to smell the roses”. Steven Covey calls it “Sharpening the saw”.

From my own experience when I get on a “power drive” to get things done, just the opposite happens. After some rest and relaxation, things start going right again.

I figured this might be a fitting tribute to the passing of Glenn Frey, and the work he and Jackson Browne did together writing this classic tune. Work hard, play hard, but also learn when to “take it easy”.
