Loose Lips Sink Ships

This saying (and the accompanying poster) was pushed during WWII to keep secrets from enemy spies. Over the last three years, I have learned it often applies much closer to home.

Among friends it is easy to feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and experiences without much thought. Unfortunately there are a lot of opportunists out there that might take privileged information and share it with people you would rather not know. If you are lucky, they will repeat it verbatim, but that is highly unlikely. It will usually be perverted into something that only slightly resembles the original statement.

I am still working on this, but certainly have learned how severe the consequences can be from “running our mouths” too freely.

So, I’m passing this on in hopes you might be spared some of the pain I have endured through my “loose lips”. No need to be secretive, but I sure have learned to use some discretion.

Have a great day!
