Rule #62 - Don't take yourself too d#@$ seriously!

That comes from the 12x12 book. A group thought of rule #62 after realizing NONE of the members were really to the other 61 rules and things deteriorated into chaos and bankruptcy.

In the humility of defeat, all they could do was laugh... and laughter helped.

Physically, we release endorphins when we laugh and that helps. More importantly we just need to accept what we can't change, accept ourselves as we are, work on what we can, and laugh at the things we can't because life is good, life is funny, and life is too short to take that d@#$ seriously!!!!

Jesus said - "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Mathew 18:3) Think about children. What traits was he looking for? I'm thinking honesty, living in the present, lack of worry for the future, but most of all, they laugh all the time!!! ;)

So when we have adversity in our lives, instead of looking back with anger and resentment, we need to be grateful for the lessons learned and the strength we have acquired.

Whatever you might be going through, just know that it has purpose, and you can use the experience to lessen yourself or to grow. The choice is yours.
