It’s the sand that makes the pearl

Oysters would probably be quite happy living out its life on the bottom of the sea without any irritation, but the beautiful pearls they make are part of the body’s response to irritations from sand that gets inside the shell. No sand, no pearl. It’s that simple.

Likewise, great people are created from overcoming adversity. As I consider the people I have known over the last 50 years, the ones who had the greatest challenges acquired the traits I most wanted to have.

So when we have adversity in our lives, instead of looking back with anger and resentment, we need to be grateful for the lessons learned and the strength we have acquired.


Whatever you might be going through, just know that it has purpose, and you can use the experience to lessen yourself or to grow. The choice is yours.
